I've been interested in art ever since I was a little girl. I have always gotten an incredible amount of joy from the act of making things. When I was young, my friend and I would spend all morning coloring pictures, which we would then sell door-
to-door for 25 cents a piece. We were our own little traveling art gallery.
In elemenatry school, I would write and illustrate picture books, a hobby that prompted my teacher to say, "You'll be the next Beverly Cleary." This was my favorite author at the time, and I've remembered this compliment ever since.
Once I reached college, it was a natural decision to study art and writing. There's nothing that I'm as passionate about. This career choice has led me into an array of weird and wonderful jobs. I have worked as a puppeteer for an all-marionette theater, a henna tattoo artist, a picture framer, copywriter and most recently, graphic designer.
